I was appointed to the Whitehouse Arts Advisory Board, and I currently serve as secretary. The group's mission is to lift up the talents of Whitehouse residents and to bring in various creative art forms to the village. Whether it be sculptures around the quarry or music in the park, WAAB seeks to enrich our experiences here and offer entertaining events. Mark your calendars now for the Holiday Art and Craft Sale on Nov. 21, 2015!
I also serve on the general board of the Toledo Opera Guild, which raises awareness of and promotes a passion for opera in northwest Ohio and financially supports the Toledo Opera. This company is a true gem in the nation, and having high-caliber opera here broadens the scope of activities and increases the attractiveness of our area for prospective residents. I was co-chair of the 2014 major fall fundraiser, which contributed nearly half of the guild's $46,000 donation to the opera this season.

I have long been involved in outreach and education ministries at my church, Peace Lutheran in Bowling Green. I belong to the American Legion Auxiliary of Whitehouse Post 384, as my husband is a legionnaire, and I am member of the local Pythian Sisters, which is a family tradition. These groups help feed people, assist families in need, and spread kindness and hope.
Volunteering with these groups is an honor and a pleasure. I enjoy collaborating with others, promoting positive aspects about our communities, and helping wherever my skills can be used. I have learned how to be a good steward of financial resources, to make every penny count and to be accountable to a budget.
Serving on Whitehouse Village Council is another way that I can make a difference. I want to make living and learning, working and playing, and doing business in Whitehouse and the surrounding area good for everyone.
